Opening Question

In your own Words, what is the good news of Christianity?

We do not understand the Gospel outside of Scripture. The Scripture informs us of who God is, what

sin is and how it separates us from God, who Christ is and what he has done for us and then demands

a response to the Gospel. The old children’s song says it best… “Jesus loves me this I know, for the

Bible tells me so.” We should not try to show the unbeliever their need for a Savior outside of

Scripture. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom. 10:17). Therefore, we

will not look outside of Scripture to understand the Gospel, but only to Scripture for it (1 Corinthians

2:14).
